END-OF-BOOK REFLECTION QUESTIONS

END-OF-BOOK REFLECTION QUESTIONS
The Revealers Begin brainstorming the answers with members of your group!
1. Ms. Hogeboom told Russell that everyone was reading the Revealer and that the atmosphere of the school was changing…”It was like a small revolution” (175). Explain what she means about the school culture and their affect on it.

2. Describe why The Revealers project was so successful with students and judges alike.

3. Russell, Elliot, and Catalina's hypothesis for their science fair project was "if bullying and harassment incidents were brought to light among the whole student body in a school then there will be a reduction in these incidents as well as them being less severe in nature"(194). Did the three main characters prove their hypothesis? Discuss. What is one way you could use technology to improve the school at AISD?

1.She means that since blogger came out the school is reacting in a positive way they are being nicer school wide(atmosphere). Since the stories of others were shared people undrstood what kind of problem it was (big) and that doing it is wrong. Although not all responed lots did in a good way by not bullying and/or being nicer to people.

2. The revealers project was so succesful with all people because it showed videos, stories, the notes written to Catalina, and interviews. All these different things make it interesting so it atracts lots of people. Everyone can relate to this because everyone has been either a bystander, the bully, or the victum.

3.Yes they proved there hypothesis because Richie was nice to Russel thats atleast one. And Mrs.Hogeboom said they were making a difference and Mrs.Capeli said they would bring back the KidNet. A way we could use technology to improve AIS/D is to share bullying stories like KidNet but we could use FirstClass. We could also usee more laptops to do assinments instead of paper so they will not get stolen, copied, or broken.

It is okay to disagree, but do it in a polite manner. When Elliot writes about his experience with the Jock Rots and sends it out over the KidNet, he includes the following quote in his letter.
"I think people ought to realize that stuff like this goes on every day…The rest of you are all part of it-because you let it go on and maybe you think it's funny, or you think it only happens to geeky outsiders and kids who are smaller or fatter or skinnier or don't have so many friends or so much money as you. So tell me-what happens when you don't have so many friends one day, or you don't have so much money, or something bad happens to you?" (91-92)Blog Question:What is the message is he trying to get across to his classmates?

I think the message he is trying to get out to the students is that bullying happens under your nose and you should take action to stop it because what if something happens to you and your the victim how would you feel then. Don't bully for the fun or to take out anger on others... just DON'T bully.I completely agree with what he says and that it is like if we stick together and try to stop bullying in this school t can work.

Blog: Role Reversal

Blog Question: After the Bully Lab was renamed, the Revealers, and the stories of the three Darkland students were released and well received by the student body, Elliot wanted to publish Russell’s narrative about Richie punching Russell in the face.
1) Why was Russell so opposed to the idea (pg. 110)? Explain. (4 pts)
2) What is happening to the relationship between Russell and Richie. (3 pts)
3) Two Peer Comments (4 pts each)

Blog Answer:

1. I think the story of him and Richie Tucker on The Revealer because he thinks he has changed. On p.110 Russell says that Richie has been acting differently and that he could ask him questions. And I think that Russell thinks there is a chance of them not being the bully and victim and more like friends. My thought is that Richie actuly doesn't want to be friends but is not wanting to get into trouble.

2.Richie and Russell are doing well at the beginning they were having quite a lot of trouble. From the root beer being poured over Russells head (p.14-15) to the punching in the face(p. 44). They are now asking each other questions and even though that didn't go well they are not hurting each other. And  they are no longer in a relationship  where Richie hurts Russell all the time. In fact Richie stands up for Russell when  he is being threatened by Burke and Blannchette(p.97). I think that Russell and Richie by the end of the book will no longer  think of each other as either the bully or victim but as sort of friends.
